Vincent van Gogh - Olive Trees: Bright blue sky Square Wall Clock

Olive Trees / Olive Trees: Bright Blue Sky, painted in 1889 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Bright blue sky presses down over a compact grove of twisting trees, their trunks and foliage organised into dense, curving strokes. Painted in the autumn phase of Van Gogh's olive-tree series, the work is more tightly patterned than his early summer studies. The contrasting blue sky, green foliage and warm ground turn the orchard into a bold decorative structure while retaining the rough character of the Provençal terrain.
