Prisoners Exercising (after Dore) (aka Prisoners Round) (1890) by Vincent van Gogh is a vintage Post Impressionism fine art daily life painting. Inmates and a warden in a jail with the men walking around in a circle in a cobblestone courtyard getting their daily exercise. The original of this work was created by Gustav Doré and titled Newgate: The Exercise Yard. About the artist: Vincent Willem van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Post Impressionist painter whose work was most noteable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold colour.
