About This Design

Vincent van Gogh - The Brothel Tile

Vincent van Gogh - The Brothel Tile

The Brothel (Le Lupanar), painted in 1888 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Arles. The interior shows a brightly coloured late-night social scene arranged around a table, with seated figures in the foreground and others farther back in the room. Van Gogh tackled the subject in November 1888 after discussing contemporary nightlife with his friend Émile Bernard. The rough, compressed handling makes the room feel closer to a lively café interior than to a carefully staged narrative.

My fiancé and I were happy when we received the tile. It’s Peru and was worth paying extra for expressing postage. Good quality and it is exactly like we wanted it. We are very pleased.
