This oil on canvas from 1889, otherwise known as "The Entrance Hall Of Saint-Paul Hospital", was painted after Van Gogh committed himself to the hospital in Saint-Rémy France. Due to his limited access to the outside world, the clinic and surrounding fields often became the main subjects of his paintings, with this one showing the entrance of the hospital looking out towards the garden.
