"Scottie popularity in the U.S. — demonstrated in a vast array of Scottie statuary, jewellery, and other collectibles from the period — reached its height in the ’30s, says Stamm. “The 1930s were the golden age of the Scottish Terrier in the United States. I’m sure that the popularity of Franklin Roosevelt and Fala (President Roosevelt's Scottish Terrier was named Fala) had a lot to do with that,” she says. “I think the highly recognisable outline of the breed was another factor.”
