Vintage Advertising Poster: Roses -Ludwig Hohlwein Poster
This is a quality reproduction of "Mayer Sundheimer Ladies' Confections" by Ludwig Hohlwein. Hohlwein, a German graphic designer who was prominent in the field of poster design, created this image as an advertising poster for a candy shop. From the card attached to the roses, I gather that a person could order this stunning bouquet from the confection store. They do look good enough to eat, but I don't think that's the reasoning behind the poster.
Ludwig Hohlwein (1874-1939) practiced architecture until 1906 and then switched to the field of poster art, and was one of the most important and prolific German poster artists of the 20th century.
This image is available as a poster or a print. Since it is an exact copy of the original lithograph (slightly brightened by us), it looks particularly stunning when ordered on canvas.
