Vintage illustration Victorian Era black and white classic children's fairy tales image by Sir John Tenniel in Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, 1865.
The White rabbit wearing a suit appears at the very beginning of the book, looking at his pocket watch, wearing a waistcoat, and muttering "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" Alice follows him down the rabbit hole into Wonderland.
