Vintage Art Deco ~ L'Oiseau Volage by Barbier Poster
For the lover of fashion and art, Georges Barbier's (1882–1932) "L'Oiseau Volage", circa 1914 (trans: The Fickle Bird), depicts a model in a vibrant red & black print gown surrounded by an intense-red leafed tree, and an opened bird cage. Barbier was one of the great French illustrators of the early 20th century. Born in Nantes, France, he was 29 years old when he mounted his first exhibition in 1911 and was subsequently swept to the forefront of his profession with commissions to design theatre and ballet costumes, to illustrate books, and to produce haute couture fashion illustrations.
