Vintage British London theatre play advert Postcard

Vintage British London theatre play advert Postcard

Late 19th century advertisement for the theatre play "The New Woman" in the Comedy Theatre London. Originally printed by David Allen of Belfast. 1894 by Albert George Morrow. Main colour: red. Secondary colours; light yellow and green, black. A modern woman (in that time) is sitting on a chair, obviously overwhelmed by her administration. Her cigarette is burning in the foreground. Albert George Morrow (b. Comber, County Down, 26 April 1863; d. West Hoathly, West Sussex, England, 26 October 1927) was an illustrator, poster designer and cartoonist. He was the son of a painter and decorator from Clifton Street, west Belfast. Of his seven brothers, four, George (1869–1955), Jack (1872–1926), Edwin (1877–1952) and Norman (1879–1917), were also illustrators. He was educated at the Government School of Art in Belfast, and won a scholarship to study in Kensington in 1882, where he began a lifelong friendship with the British sculptor Albert Toft. He contributed illustrations to the English Illustrated Magazine, Bits and Good Words. He exhibited eleven works at the Royal Academy, and illustrated books for children and adults, but he is best known for the hundreds of posters he designed, mainly for the theatre. Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
