Vintage - Fairy Conducts Songbirds,

A vintage illustration from a children's book depicting a tiny fairy conducting an "orchestra" of songbirds as they sing and rehearse their music in a clearing in the woods. The artist is Richard Doyle (1824-1883) who was born in London. He was a noteable illustrator of the Victorian era who learned art from his father, Irish cartoonist John Doyle. Doyle had three brothers who were also artists. He was the uncle of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes stories.
