A vintage illustration from a children's book depicting fairies flying through the air on a leaf tethered to a group of colourful butterflies. The artist is Richard "Dicky" Doyle (1824-1883) who was born in London. He was a noteable illustrator of the Victorian era who learned art from his father, Irish cartoonist John Doyle. Doyle had three brothers who were also artists. He was the uncle of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes stories.
