Vintage illustration botanical design featuring blooming orange Fritillaria imperialis (Crown imperial or Kaiser's crown) flowers from 'Hortus Eystettensis' by Basilius Besler, 1613. Besler was a respected Nuremberg apothecary and botanist, best known for his "Hortus Eystettensis,", translated means "The Garden at Eichstätt." He was the curator of the botany garden of Johann Konrad von Gemmingen, prince bishop of Eichstätt in Bavaria.
