A vintage children's book illustration by Honour C. Appleton called "He Had Come Back to Find Me" depicts a little girl lying in a a meadow at night under a full moon. A black cat sits in top of her and gazes into her face, as she holds the cat and looks back into its eyes. Honour C. Appleton (1879-1951) was an English illustrator and artist who illustrated over 150 books in her career, beginning with children’s books and moving to literary classics.
