Vintage John Keulemans Greater Koa Finch Tapestry

A beautiful print of the "Greater Koa Finch" created by John Gerrard Keulemans (1842 - 1912). John Gerrard Keulemans was a Dutch bird writer and illustrator best known for natural-history illustration. He illustrated many important bird books, including A History of the Birds of New Zealand. For most of his life he lived and worked in England, illustrating many of the best-known ornithology books of the nineteenth century. The Greater Koa Finch was a species of finch found only in the Hawaiian Islands. The species became extinct sometime during the late 19th century.
