Vintage - Little Girl Meets Fairies,

A vintage fairy book illustration by Florence Susan Harrison depicts a little blonde girl surrounded by fairies and elves. The artist, Florence Susan Harrison (1877-1955) was born on board the Windsor Castle, a ship bound from London to Brisbane, Australia. Her father, Norwood Harrison, was a master mariner and ship’s captain, and his family spent much time of their time at sea with him. In between voyages, Florence attended a school run by a great-aunt in Folkestone, England. As an adult, Florence lived in England and for some time in Belgium. She was an Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelite illustrator of poetry and children’s books including some books of her own poetry. Following Florence’s death, her artwork was often mistakenly attributed to Emma Florence Harrison, a Victorian-era artist who exhibited at the Royal Academy in the 19th century. To this day, Florence Susan Harrison’s artwork can be found on many Internet art websites incorrectly attributed to Emma Florence Harrison. This card is blank inside for your own message.
