Vintage pastel coloured Casanova portrait Postcard

Vintage pastel coloured Casanova portrait Postcard

Restored and retouched bookcover in pastel colours from "THE MEMOIRS OFJACQUES CASANOVA de SEINGALT 1725-1798 THE VENETIAN YEARS", THE RARE UNABRIDGED LONDON EDITION OF 1894 TRANSLATED BY ARTHUR MACHEN TO WHICH HAS BEEN ADDED THE CHAPTERS DISCOVERED BY ARTHUR SYMONS. With the following note: These memoires were not written for children, they may outrage readers also offended by Chaucer, La Fontaine, Rabelais and The Old Testament. Do you know someone who (thinks he) is a real Casanova? Send him this card, in order for him to see how the real one looked like. Giacomo Girolamo Casanova de Seingalt (April 2, 1725 – June 4, 1798) was an Italian adventurer and author from the Republic of Venice. His autobiography, Histoire de ma vie (Story of My Life), is regarded as one of the most authentic sources of the customs and norms of European social life during the 18th century. He was so famous as a womanizer that his name remains synonymous with the art of seduction. He associated with European royalty, popes and cardinals, along with luminaries such as Voltaire, Goethe and Mozart. He spent his last years in Bohemia as a librarian in Count Waldstein's household, where he also wrote the story of his life.

Such a huge range of different frogs available, which made my choices very difficult and now the reason I have a whole draw full of cards and postcards! Much better quality than you can buy in the shops and they are exactly on the subject I love and adore too.
