Vintage - Sleeping Child & Forest Fairies,

A vintage illustration by Frances Brundage depicting a little girl, out for a walk in the woods to collect a bundle of twigs, who has fallen asleep in the soft grass under a tree. A group of forest fairies gather around her to protect her as she sleeps. The artist, Frances Brundage (1854-1937) was born in Newark, NJ and was best known for illustrations of beautiful, adorable children on postcards, calendars, and holiday cards, particularly Valentines. She later lived and worked in Washington, D.C., Massachusetts and New York. She was ahead of her time in that her diverse artwork also included Native American, African American, Dutch and Irish children.
