This lovely yellow gold helenium, sometimes known as sneezeweed, looks cheery with its fringe of golden petals spinning around a purple center that looks almost like a pincushion. The full Latin name of the Helenium autumnale is tied to Helen of Troy, although the plants are native to the Americas. The Helenium is a member of the same family as coneflowers, cosmos, and sunflowers, which is the Asteraceae family. This helenium was growing in a beautiful stand of red, yellow, and purple flowers in a lovely botanical garden, and the image is based on an original photo with artistic effects applied.
