Votes for Women Alice Paul Victory Flag Card
Suffragist leader, Alice Paul, unfurls the "ratification flag" from the balcony of the National Women's Party headquarters in Washington D.C. on August 18, 1920. The 19th Amendment pass congress in June of 1919 but still requires 3/4 of the states to ratify it for it to become law. A star was sewn on the suffrage flag until each of the 36 states needed voted for ratification. On August 18, 1920 Tennessee became the 36th state and on August 26, 1920 it became law. Both dates are celebrated as victory days. Be sure to check out the other selection of suffrage cards in the collection. We downloaded several photos which was simple and produced a very attractive personalised card for our 11yr old Granddaughter.
I was concerned that the card would not arrive on time but Zazzle came up trumps and the card arrived on the day before her birthday - perfect! I didn't see the card as it went straight to our family in New Zealand. However they did send a photo and it looked excellent!
