John William Waterhouse Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May note card. Oil painting on canvas from 1909. Based on the Robert Herrick poem, Gather Ye Rosebuds is one of English painter John Waterhouse’s finest literary works. The painting features a beautiful girl in a green dress with gold lace and floral embroidery. The young woman holds a pewter bowl of freshly cut pink, red, and white roses in her hands. Her dark red hair is fastened with pearls, and a mirror stationed behind her reveals a stained glass window featuring a coat of arms and purple tulips. A great gift for fans of J.W.
