John William Waterhouse Ophelia greeting card. Oil painting on canvas from 1894. English artist John Waterhouse frequently drew on literary themes, and Shakespeare was one of his greatest sources of inspiration. Waterhouse dedicated multiple paintings to Hamlet’s doomed heroine Ophelia. This early painting features the girl wearing a light blue dress with gold embroidery and jewelled bracelets. Ophelia’s hair is auburn and adorned with dark red flowers. She sits at the edge of a pond full of water lilies with daisies in her lap. A great gift for fans of J.W. We downloaded several photos which was simple and produced a very attractive personalised card for our 11yr old Granddaughter.
I was concerned that the card would not arrive on time but Zazzle came up trumps and the card arrived on the day before her birthday - perfect! I didn't see the card as it went straight to our family in New Zealand. However they did send a photo and it looked excellent!
