Pre-Raphaelite John William Waterhouse frequently painted literary themes, and Windflowers is a beautiful example of the artist’s lifelong fascination with poetic heroines. The painting features a young woman with dark black hair standing in a field of wild flowers as the wind whips across the scene. She wears a white dress with purple sleeves, skirt and stitching.
