I’m always a little suspicious of watermelon that’s been left out on a picnic table all afternoon. If any of those dark seeds are moving around, I figure it’s best to forego the fruit and end the meal with a cookie. But all kidding aside, Memorial Day is not for picnics. It’s for remembering all those who have made a supreme sacrifice for freedom and not to forget those who gave so much to family and country.
