"Watson Lake" Prescott "Granite Dells" Poster

Watson Lake was created in April of 1915 with the completion of the Granite Creek Dam. The City of Prescott bought the lake in 1977 to preserve it as a recreational destination. The north part of the lake is delineated by striking rock formations which are part of an area commonly referred to as the “Granite Dells”. This grand collection of rock outcroppings are approximately 1.4 Billion years old and provide many unique opportunities for sure footed hikers and rock climbing enthusiasts. The "Pevine Trail" runs adjacent to the lake on the east side. Originally a Santa Fe Railroad line, it became one of the “Rails to Trails” Projects and is now a popular path for cyclists, joggers and hikers. Other activities at the lake include fishing, picnic activities, bird watching and overnight camping through the Summer Months. Kayakers are a common sight on the lake and there are several species of fish. Locals and visitors alike enjoy many special events and fairs at the lake throughout the year.
