It's a cold and dark winter day. A blizzard has rolled in and you are lost in the forest, but freezing to death is hardly the only danger you face. A beast of legend has emerged from the blowing snow. A werewolf flanked by two grey wolves stand before you among the trees. One wolf snarls threateningly at you, while the huge lycanthrope gives you a sharp tooth grin. You really should have stayed home today. Werewolves are, of course, hugely popular in media, but their legend goes back a very long time. Some of the first mentions of such creatures can be found in writing dating back to the early Roman empire. However most of the folklore about werewolves comes from the Middle ages.
