Portrait of White Man Runs Him, a Crow man. White Man Runs Him was a Crow scout for General Custer and the 7th Cavalry. Just before the Battle of Little Bighorn, he and several other scouts were sent away and thus did not participate in the fighting that ensued there. Photograph by western photographer Richard Throssel, who photographed Crow and Northern Cheyenne Indians from 1902-1933 in southern Montana and northern Wyoming.
