White Winged Dove Saguaro Cactus Digital Art

These shipping labels are printed with a digital art creation from an original photo by Karen Coffelt of a White-Winged Dove perched to eat the fruit on a Saguaro Cactus. These doves are native to the Southwestern United States and down into Mexico and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. It is one of 14 dove species found in North America north of Mexico. They are named for the bold white wing patch that appears as a brilliant white crescent while in flight and is also visible at the edge of the wing when at rest. Adults have a blue eye ring and the legs are pink/red. There is no difference in colours and markings between males and females. The males and females work together in raising their young, and they lay an average of 2 cream-coloured to white eggs. Families and nestmates often stay together for life, perching and foraging together. They feed on seeds, grains and fruits, as well as pollen and nectar. In the Sonoran Desert they particularly love the pollen and nectar of Saguaro flowers, as well as their fruits.
