This is Wicket's Island that is about 5 acres and found on the map in 1795. The island was created at the end of the last glacial period and is a deposit of glacial moraine composed of Carver coarse sand. History states Jabez Wicket, a Native American that lived in Wareham first owned the island. Onset is a small town inside of Wareham that was developed in the 1880's as a summer camp for Spiritualist. Back then it was called Onset Bay Grove.
