About This Design
William Morris Brother Rabbit Blue Victorian Era Tie
William Morris was a Victorian English poet, novelist, translator, social activist, and renown textile designer who was associated with the British Arts and Crafts Movement. His amazing textile designs--which are mostly nature-related--are iconic and are still very popular today. Originally printed on cotton in 1882, this design is known as "Brother Rabbit" for the mirrored rabbits hiding in the thicket of ornamental acanthus leaves. When used on a tie, the rabbits and surrounding foliage appear to form horizontal bands across the tie, adding more interest. Wear or gift this eye-catching tie to anyone who is a lover of classic style, the Arts and Crafts Movement, nature, rabbits, William Morris--or simply of looking sharp! For more items with this motif, see the "Animals/Nature/Mother Earth" section of my store or my Collection, "Wonderful William Morris."
