William Morris Vintage Acanthus Foliage Blue Mug - Acanthus, the image embellishing this product was designed in 1875 by William Morris (1834-1896) and was intended to be used as wallpaper. The design boasts foliate pattern of intertwined acanthus leaves block-printed in colours on paper. Morris was an influential designer and manufacturer and was a key figure in the Arts and Crafts movement which arose in England during the 19th century in response to industrialisation and a waning interest in traditional craftsmanship.
