Wm DeMorgan Hand Painted Dragon c1900 repro Tile

De Morgan (1839-1917) was an important Arts & Crafts movement artist and was the head of tile production at William Morris's studio. His work was influenced by Persian and Islamic art and featured stylised flora and fauna from both life and fantasy. This is one of several dragon designs DeMorgan painted and shows the creature eating his tail. The motif of a dragon or serpent eating its tail dates back to ancient times and symbolises the cycle of nature and renewal of life. Makes a very nice kitchen, bath, or laundry room wall tile, backsplash, or fireplace surround.
