Woman's Foot in Lace Up Shoe 1860s Card
"Les Cothurnes", 1861-1867, by French photographer Pierre-Louis Pierson, painted and retouched by an unknown artist. Depicted is the stylishly (and revealingly for the time!) shod foot of Countess Virginia Oldoini Verasis di Castiglione, with whom Pierson had an intense photographer-model collaboration.
