“Metacarpal Birch” is the second painting in a radiograph tree series by Lizzy Rainey, R.T.(R), of Lafayette, Indiana. This metacarpal portrait was painted from the images of a very routine hand x-ray. The metacarpals are portrayed as a row of birch trees with the phalanges above and rock carpals resting below.
