Yokai Series: Dojoji Bell Postcard
The Dojoji Bell is inspired by the famous legend of Anchin and Kiyohime, a tragic love story traditionally set in the sixth year of the Engi era, about 230 years after the founding of Dojoji Temple. According to the legend, the monk Anchin sought lodging for a night during his pilgrimage, and Kiyohime fell deeply in love with him. When she believed her feelings had been betrayed, she transformed into a great serpent and pursued him, and Anchin met his fate while hiding inside the bell of Dojoji Temple. The original artwork was created by Toriyama Sekien, a renowned mid-Edo ukiyo-e artist celebrated for his influential yokai illustrations. You can freely customise the size and position of the image.
