Yoshitoshi 32 Aspects series Capable Waitress Postcard
32 Aspects of Daily Life (also known as 32 Aspects of Women) was a series of ukiyo-e woodblock prints by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi from 1888. Each named after a characteristic or personality trait, this series surveyed a wide variety of women from various stations in life, which was unusual for its time. Ukiyo-e woodblock prints were the mass media of their time in Japan. "Looking Capable" or "Observant" depicts a waitress of Western Kyōto in the Meiji era [1868-1912]. The Floating World reinvigorates old images via digital editing to bring back the vibrancy of the times.
