    About This Design

    "Zachor" Tie for Yom HaShoah

    "Zachor" Tie for Yom HaShoah

Yom HaZikaron laShoah ve-laG'vurah, "Yom HaShoah" for short or "Holocaust Remembrance Day" in English, is the day of the year that Israel commemorates the 6 million Jews that were murdered by the Nazis in World War II. It is important that we never forget the horrors committed by the Nazis against the Jews. We must keep these memories alive in the world's collective consciousness in the hope that such a genocide will never happen again. In Nazi occupied lands, Jews were required to wear a yellow "Star of David" to facilitate discrimination and violence against them. Many Jews wear such stars on Yom HaShoah as part of their observance. This neck tie accomplishes the same thing, but in a format that would be more accepted in a professional setting. The Hebrew word in the centre of the Star of David is "Zachor" which means "Remember." I have done my best to make the bottom point of the star line up with the point of the tie. Please let me know if this is not so. (I only just ordered one myself and I won't have it to judge for myself until April 8th.) To post this, Zazzle requires that I take a 5% Royalty. All of the money that I receive from this tie will be donated to the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, which operates the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.
