The park's elevation varies from around 3,700 feet at the lowest point to over 8,700 feet at its highest peak, providing visitors with a diverse range of ecosystems and scenic vistas. The striking red and tan-coloured cliffs and rock formations are primarily composed of Navajo sandstone, formed from ancient sand dunes that solidified into rock layers.
