真向い亀 LARGE TOTE BAG

【まむかいかめ】亀には数種ある。水亀（いしがめ）・鼈（すっぽん）などは池沼にすみ、海亀は海にすむ。そして、紋章になったのは水亀である。この水亀の形をしたものに、蓑（みの）のような毛をいっぱいにはやしたものがある。紋章では、これを「蓑亀」とよんでいる。思うに、蓑亀とは別にこのような特殊な亀ではなくて、甲羅に藻のような水草をはやしたもので、亀甲から発生したものではない。『古今著聞集』には、久安（１１４５～５１）のころ、長さ一尺ばかりの毛の生えた亀を、西国の人が、知足院に献上し、瑞亀としてご沙汰があったと記してある。（「日本紋章学」）
