About
Mission
In the community, the Academy was instrumental in bringing together the SFA, South Ayrshire Council and Ayr United FC into a new Football in the Community programme, developing a successful coaching programme throughout South Ayrshire, while developing programmes that are designed to help tackle social issues, including helping people back into work. Last year we undertook to re-establish Ayr United in Girls football and now have 4 teams with plans to expand that programme to take the name of Ayr United back to the top of the women’s game.
The Academy believes in the whole person concept, realising that many of our players will not succeed in their ambition of receiving a professional contract. Therefore we have developed an education programme in conjunction with Reid Kerr College to assist our young players gain qualifications and employment outwith the game
In season 2012/13 the Academy reached the criteria required by the SFA to participate in the Performance tier for youth football in Scotland.
The boys teams from 11's through to 17's will now compete against Aberdeen, Inverness, Queens Park, Dundee United, Falkirk, Kilmarnock, Rangers, Hibs, Hamilton, Motherwell, Dunfermline, Stenhousemuir, St Mirren, Celtic and Hearts.
The 19's will continue to compete in the SFL leagues.
