About

It was in the early 1970's when my mother's circumstances changed and free time allowed that she started painting seriously. My mother has always loved painting and trying different techniques and mediums. Once she started painting seriously she started to develop her style which helped her express her vision through the medium she chooses for each art work. Following my mother’s first exhibition in the town of Dampier in Western Australia, which was extremely successful, my mother was persuaded to share her talent and knowledge of art by providing art classes offered through the Technical Extension Service of the Education Department of Western Australia. In 1975 Princess Anne visited Dampier as part of a tour of Western Australia. During the visit my mother was requested to gift the Princess Royal pen and ink drawings of a local ghost town called Cossack she had drawn. Shortly after the visit a thank you letter from Her Royal Highness arrived and stated she was most touched by the gift and thanked my mother most warmly for the drawing. Her Royal Highness said it will serve as a happy reminder of a most enjoyable visit to Dampier. My mother's talent and ability to produce unique works has been recognised numerous times through various awards, including a most popular painting award for her painting “Evening in Paris”, commissions to provide paintings for civic buildings, and personal commissions for the Premier of Western Australia, CEO's of Multinational Conglomerates and various private collectors. When my mother moved from Australia to London in 1980 her painting once again took second place to “regular” work. But after she retired from the 9 to 5 routine of daily work and moved to the Lake District in the North of England she began painting again and enjoying creating new beautiful works on a more "full but easy paced time" basis
