About

Memories. Each piece reflects. amount, a speck of time. Color choice is intuitive. Joy is always the foundation. As an almost ambulatory two-year old, I took a tumble down stairs held in place by cement walls and anchored with a concrete floor. I attribute this misadventure to my inability to remember a childhood that my brother and sister seem to recall with ease. Thus, random memories of meaningful locations, items, songs, adventures, family stories, and travel provide a basis for my art. My secondary school era was one where women were encouraged to pursue 'female' jobs: teacher, nurse, bookkeeper, homemaker. My thoughts of architecture, design, art, and advanced degrees puzzled high school guidance counselors. Well..... I designed, built , and decorated seven homes. At 54 wearing pink sneakers, I skipped across a stage for an earned doctorate. At 72, I decided to enter and win (a visualization) the 2022 art on the Green (Coeur d'Alene ID) poster contest--I did, by the way. Self-taught, I produce depictions of times gone, whispers of adventures, and snapshots of love. Each holds a memory that might have escaped my eye and rolled across my cheek. Or, maybe a memory caused an ache in my soul, or prompted a smile on my face, or resulted in a tightening in my throat, or a nourished my spirit with electric joy. Each artwork is a story, a representation of thoughts impossible to express. I hope that one or more pieces also summon a unique moment, memory, or emotion for those viewing my work.
