My name is Chanel Renfro and I am a recent graduate with a masters degree in Forensic Psychology. Growing up I was blessed with an amazing mother, whose parenting skills exceed those of any i have seen to date. Unfortunatly, this would not shield myself or my siblings from the realities of the world and of our community. Outside of our home i was exposed to crime, gang activity, drug distribution and use, violence, child abuse, and whole host of other things. I watched helplessly for years as poverty, violence, and drug addiction destroyed the lives of numeous friends and family members. At the age of 18 my eldest brother lost his life to drug addiction and the criminal lifestyle. Although my circumstances were better than many of those around me, to say that i was not affected by my enviornment would be the equivalent of commiting an act of perjury. It is evident that the cruelties of this world have no boudaries, they can penetrate the walls of the most resielient individual. With that said EDU by Urban Decay is a company that was started in an effort to raise awareness about issues plaguing minority and low income communities. We seek to empower our youth through education the promotion of humility, morality, prosperity, and love.
