Ingrid Holborn was born in England, East Riding of Yorkshire in a small City called Hull. It was there where she attended art school. She later relocated to Huddersfield, North Yorkshire where she completed a BSc in Textile Design. The next 5 years were to be spent Teaching Design Technology in a secondary school back in Hull. From there she started to create her own paintings, drawings and illustrations. The Art of Nature's calling Co was born. Her world of creations from her own deepest aspects. Ingrid’s uplifting illustrations were created in her own home based studio. She spent countless happy hours playing with Mixed Media. Her style is inspired by anything to do with Nature. She said “after all this is our true essence and I love to just get out and connect back to all that is strengthening for my wellbeing”. Ingrid is never without her camera and love's to put her Son River in his pram and go for a lovely walk and point our things to him of beauty on the way. She is drawn to exotic birds, bees, trees but particularly flowers for their variety, colours, scent, and intricate beauty, abstract shapes, sea life entwined into an imaginative abstract pieces. She tries to create new shapes that would not normally be seen in the world around us. She has a love to create something new and that's why she loves to work in an abstract style. Often she works small so that people have to get up close and personal and have to look closely at the sometimes intricate detail. Her pieces are a real topic of conversation. People convey all sorts of meanings when they view her work. That to her is what art is about. Her love for flowers with her own unique abstract twist is a signature of her own drawing style. So what does she create with all this inspiration? Drawings, paintings and illustrations both original and prints, She work mainly in mixed media using materials including: pressed flowers, copper leaf, glass paints, glitters, 3d paints, tissue, inks, pens and stamps.
