About

Tasha Gross has been making art and telling stories since childhood. Growing up in a family of artists, this was difficult to avoid. When they weren't drawing, writing, or wandering around in the woods, they were modeling for their mother's illustrations. In an attempt to be anything besides an artist, they attended Goucher College and Oxford University, graduating with a B.A. in History, and a plan to become a professor. This plan did not last long. Upon graduating, Tasha began their professional foray into the art world. They worked in several New York art museums, including the American Folk Art Museum, and the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art. After several years of organizing, curating, and caring for other artists' work in various dark and dusty archives, Tasha finally decided to return to their true passions: drawing, and telling stories. Tasha takes much of their inspiration from nature, and from all the different ways we understand and interact with it. They also create work that reflects their queer identity and mental illness, and sees this as an extension of their fascination with nature and how human beings decide what is "natural." Tasha is always happy to offer their design services, and has worked with various companies to create business and post cards, posters, social media content, t-shirt designs, instructional illustrations, and more! They also love collaborating with writers and other artists, making concept art and storyboards for movies, graphic novels, etc. Tasha is based in Harlem, NY. When they aren't working, they enjoy reading, talking about Foucault and historiography to anyone who will listen, making music, and taking 120-block walks through the city.
