A late-night inspiration set the stage for a worldwide sensation. While watching the COVID-19 pandemic drama unfold, I wondered how many people really had a handle on the underlying math of pandemic growth. A quickly drawn cartoon about a common classroom experience turned into a viral study itself. Over the course of one week, my Facebook post garnered over 38,000 shares. When a celebrated rock star astrophysicist saw it, his Facebook shares sent it into orbit with another 71,000 shares! Seeing that there was a strong interest in printed applications, I designed the MATH MATTERS! series.
